The 7th July 2005 saw mainland Britain attacked by terrorists bringing the Capital to a standstill, the NTIPDU would like to offer our condolences to the Families of those who died and the injured parties involved.
Within three hours of this atrocity NTIPDU Head Office had numerous phone calls from people asking if we could put them in contact with anybody who would supply them with explosive detection dogs. Out of all the people who phoned, only two had experience of working a trained dog, the rest of the calls were from people who were only interested in making a fast buck. After asking the relevant questions i.e.: - did they carry insurance? have access to training venues? a vehicle with correct caging for the dog? first aid kits and of course had they received any training ?
I was not surprised to be told NO to nearly all of these questions.
Please Note: -
We are not prepared as a reputable training establishment to assist untrained, unethical entrepreneurs benefit from the deceitful extortion of terrorist activities.
It is time for the SIA to listen to the dog sector and realize that there is a need to license dog and handler teams NOW, when the police are stretched to full capacity as we all witnessed why couldn’t civilian dogs and handlers step in and assist. The answer is, the Police and Services couldn’t be sure that the people they were working with were capable, with the correct training and the S I A Licence they could be.
The NTIPDU have the licence, we have the capacity to carry out all the required training within the network of the NTIPDU, we have the qualifications, we have accredited handlers, but we’re waiting for the SIA. |
