Pictured
above are the Copeland
Borough Council Enforcement Officers Team, following their successful
completion of the NTIPDU Local Authority Enforcement Officer's
Induction Course.
November
saw the launch of the 'NTIPDU LAEOIC'. The course is designed to
introduce the learners to the skills involved with the safe
capture of stray/unwanted dogs. Following the course, the
students provided us with their feedback; see their comments
below: -
"Great
course, would recommend other people to do it, learnt a very
great deal about the way I can handle dogs and knowledge about
them."
"A
very enjoyable course and very educational"
"The
course was enjoyable due to the way it was presented and varied,
the hands-on working with dogs was excellent."
"Enjoyed
working with the dogs and learning to use the equipment."
"The
course was very well received with the team with the right
balance of both theory and invaluable practical experience of
using the equipment and working with dogs; something no amount
of classroom work can teach. The officers feel more
confident in dealing with dogs and are now actually keen to do
this! The guidance offered and support from both tutors
were excellent and managed to gain the respect of the team very
quickly which helped the delivery of the information in a very
informative and enjoyable way. The team enjoyed the course
as well as gained a great deal of knowledge and valuable
experience to make sure they are safe when approaching these
potentially dangerous situations. Certainly would recommend this
to other authorities who are managing, or going to be managing
the handling of stray dogs."
